Testing a Dickey John bin level sensor
I'm posting this because I did a computer search the other day for this very thing and had a hard time finding it.
Connect the black and red wires of the sensor to a 12 volt battery; red to POS and black to NEG. Next, use a mutimeter to probe the black and green wires on the sensor. With no obstruction between the sensor eyes, the meter should show zero volts. Cover one of the sensor eyes and the meter should show 12 volts. Hope this helps someone.
(TIP- I found inserting a correctly sized, new cotter pin into the weatherpak fitting made it easy to attach the alligator clips.)
